Good morning all. Living in the south hasn't changed me too much. I do not say yall.
It is interesting how in just a few miles and states the language changes. The different accents and meaning of words. I have lived in Ohio, California, North Carolina, and now South Carolina. I have relatives in other states and have visited them. A simple beverage such as a Coke, can be call differently, depending on what area you are in. In Ohio it is Pop or soda pop, California it is a soda, in Georgia it is a Coke but so is any other soda pop beverage. I heard stated " go get me a coke" the reply was " what flavor".
I was raised in the North Eastern part of Ohio, and was taught, turn the light on/or turn the light off. Here in the south it is cut that light on/or cut that light off. I was taught push the button, here in the south it is mash that button.
There are other words and sayings, and I am not picking on the people in these areas. I just wanted to state that People are as different as the language we speak. Just because they are different and talk different then what we are use to does not give us the right to judge them or stereo-type them.
I have been taught all men ( and women) are created equal. We have the right to be who and what we are.
I have had to watch my children make the same mistakes as I did. I use to be a dictator in my home to the point that I almost lost all contact with my kids. It was my way or the high way. I have learned over the years to be more understanding and respect individuals for who and what they are. The hardest lesson I had to learn was, People (my kids) have as much right to fail as to succeed. It wasn't until I learned this lesson that I could except people for who they are.
We live in a wonderful country The United States of America, we all need to bond together and except people for their heritage and who they are. The past is the past. Don't forget your heritage or who you are but quit blaming certain groups for what happened to yours and my ancestors.
Get over it and live today side by side working side by side to improve our future.
We need to remember the Golden Rule, Love your neighbor as you would your self.
I did not write this to offend any body and if I did I apologize. I wrote this because I am tired of seeing on the News the violence and crime rate going up. Most of it is over a misunderstanding, prejudices, or poor schooling.
If we teach good we receive good. If we teach bad we receive bad. WE have the choice to accept or reject all and anything we are taught.
Think and Ponder
